Much as we are all looking forward to resuming train services in a couple of weeks time, we have had to make a considered decision on whether to hold any major events this year.

This year the Snowdonian will run on July 24th and 25th, with the Welsh Highland Railway leg taking place on the Saturday, and the Ffestiniog leg on the Sunday.

Our new National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) – Interpretation and Boston Lodge Project website will be the principal hub for all our project information, activities and updates.

Welsh Pony will be steamed for the first time in eighty years, and we will broadcast the action live so that you at home can witness this momentous and long-awaited occasion.

Many volunteers and supporters have asked what can be done to support the railway, apart from the appeal. Well, we’ve got a cunning plan to bring everyone together to take part in something extremely useful – from the comfort of their own home!

The ‘Snowdonia 360’ campaign follows a 360 mile tourist route incorporating every element a visitor may want, to create a unique holiday experience.

Now that the February half-term break has passed, we are running two trains a day, four days a week until 26th March. These trains will run from Harbour Station, Porthmadog to Hafod y Llyn and return, providing the opportunity to enjoy a scenic, steam-hauled 10-mile round trip across reclaimed pastures, passing ancient sea cliffs and the meandering Glaslyn river along the way. The start of season provided the ideal opportunity to host our highly anticipated Defibrillator Launch event at Porthmadog Harbour station.

On Saturday October 5th., the newly-constructed Welsh Highland Railway Pullman Observation Carriage was officially named Gwyrfai at Caernarfon Station.
