Heritage style service through the heart of the woodlands of the Snowdonia National Park.
Our Woodland Wanderer service allows you to ride in some of our carefully preserved heritage carriages as we offer you a 1960s style service to Tan-y-Bwlch station, set in the heart of the woodlands of the Snowdonia National Park.
It is great for families and those with dogs, with most accommodation in individual compartments. Our heritage carriages offer a variety of compartments from four wheeled quarrymen’s carriages to ornate compartments with armchairs and net baskets for your bowler hat. Former Prime Minister, David Lloyd George, travelled to work in these compartments when he was a solicitor in Blaenau Ffestiniog so you are in renowned company.
Compartments hold up to 6 passengers. Larger groups should book a further compartment or call the booking office.
Each train provides up to an hour break for a walk along the woodland trail towards Llyn Mair, the pretty lake in the valley or some freshly made refreshments from the station tearooms.
The cakes are delicious; and taste even better sitting outside in the Snowdonia sunshine watching the woodland birds flocking to the station bird table! The tearoom has a play area for young children so they can ‘let off steam’.
One Way tickets are available on this service and must be booked via calling our Booking Office. Please note, due to limited capacity on board our trains, you will not be able to return on a later train, unless you have booked two separate single journey tickets.
Adults: £27.50 per person
