It promises to be a busy Bank Holiday Weekend, with visitors making the most of the remaining summer holiday period.
We have lots of trains running but we’ll also have some family friendly free footplate rides for visitors to enjoy.
Come along to Harbour Station in Porthmadog on Saturday, Sunday or Monday between 10:45 and 16:00 and you’ll find beautifully restored Quarry Hunslet ‘HUGH NAPIER’ steaming around the station sidings. Now long retired from its hard work in the Penrhyn Slate Quarry, this loco is a perfect size to introduce people to a working steam locomotive.
Following her ‘starring’ role as the centrepiece of the F&WHR stand at the recent Welsh National Eisteddfod in Boduan, we are delighted to confirm that ‘LILLA’ will in steam at ‘Y Stesion’ (on St. Helen’s Road in Caernarfon) this coming Sunday and Monday.
This time the she won’t just be on display, but you’ll be able to take a ride on the footplate, as ‘LILLA’ steams up and down the station tracks between 10:00 and 16:00.
Footplate rides are free of charge – although donations are always welcome. There is no booking required, just turn up and take your turn on the loco. You don’t even need to have a train ticket.
Come along and enjoy a great weekend – we’re looking forward to seeing you here!
