Ffestiniog Railway Society sponsored walk

Sunday 23rd September 2012

We are pleased to say that, fresh from the success of the Blaenau 30 Gala Walks, Catrin Roberts is working on some fiendish ideas to keep Walkers on their toes for the Sponsored Walk.

Our plan is to start from Blaenau at 10am and aim to be back at the Station soon after 1pm to allow for the possibility of a train ride in the afternoon. This year we are likely to stay fairly close to the Town itself, particularly after the Gala walkers discovered much more to the Town than they perhaps realised existed.

As before we intend to share the proceeds as equally as possible between projects at the Blaenau end and Tan y Bwlch. With a new Station building at Blaenau and The Friends of Tan y Bwlch Station continuing their good works their will be plenty of good things for the money to be spent on.

The Sponsorship Form is now available and can be downloaded below. It can also be obtained by telephoning David Witcomb on 01373 471103 and copies can be posted or emailed to you.

If you would like to join the Walk we would also love to hear from you on the same number.

We had the opportunity to talk to a lot of people during the Gala weekend about the Walk and hopefully generated some interest that way as well. We also had whispered in our ear an idea for a possible future Walk which definitely sounded worth pursuing.

We would of course have to persuade the Board that it is a good idea and the best way to do that is by making this year a success so please obtain a Sponsorship Form and raise as much as you can.

Sponsorship Forms with remittances payable to Ffestiniog Railway Society should be sent to David Witcomb at 51 Stonebridge Drive, Frome, Somerset, BA11 2TW. If you are able to make a Gift Aided donation please let us know when writing and we will make the necessary claim.

Thank you for your support.

    Volunteer Website
After many years sterling service the decision has been taken to wind up the FRVol (http://www.ffestiniogvolunteer.org.uk/) website and absorb its content into the main FRS site.

It is unclear how many people use the ‘secure' staff area on the site regularly and, if used, how much of the information on here can be got through other means. Therefore could the group ask anyone with an interest to email web@ffestiniograilway.org.uk outlining how they use this secure area … maybe after looking through the list below!

This is all part of ongoing efforts to simplify communications and avoid duplication duplication around the railway, so we would point out that if you need information:

This is available by email to staff involved with the operating railway. Email: control@festrail.co.uk
