James Spooner rides again
The F&WHR Company Board has given its approval for the building of a new Double Fairlie locomotive, the eighth to run on the railway and the fifth built entirely at its workshops at Boston Lodge.

Lottie’s facelift
Another key task in the Winter Maintenance Programme has been completed. The road surface at Quarry Lane Crossing, better known as Lottie’s Crossing, had deteriorated badly and was in urgent need of replacement.

Santa Specials beat the rain
Although the promise of a White Christmas proved to be false, despite hints in early December that it might be on the cards, Santa Specials on both railways proved as popular as ever despite the unseasonal rain.

Ffestiniog Railway Santa Trains to Beddgelert
Due to the continued bad weather causing delays to track maintenance work, the Ffestiniog Railway’s Santa Specials will be running to Beddgelert instead of to Tan y Bwlch this coming weekend.

Important changes to our Autumn Timetable
Due to essential engineering work, Ffestiniog Railway services between November 2nd through to December 12th will run on the Welsh Highland Railway. The Ffestiniog Railway will be closed between Blaenau Ffestiniog and Porthmadog for track replacement.

A Patagonian visit to the Ffestiniog Railway
In July 1865, 153 Welsh settlers left Liverpool aboard the converted tea-clipper Mimosa to set up a Welsh-speaking colony in Argentina in a bid to preserve the Welsh language and way of life.

Come and view Pullman carriage 150 at Paddington
In 2013, the Ffestiniog Railway put the world’s oldest surviving narrow gauge steam locomotive, Princess, on show at London’s Paddington Station to mark its 150th birthday.
