HSB Exchange Visit 2008
The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways have been formally twinned with the former East German Harzer Schmalspurbahnen (HSB) since 2006 and staff exchange visits have taken place on a regular basis since 2003.

Community Rail Week at Blaenau Ffestiniog - 17th May 2008

Join us at Blaenau Ffestiniog to celebrate this annual event. We will be joined by 'Arriva Trains Wales' and various community groups on the platform, and there will be various events for the whole family, including Footplate rides! - 'Jerry M' will be there too!

The third annual event for subscribers to the 'Phase 4' and 'New Trains' Appeals was held on Saturday April 5th; the last such event before reopening to Porthmadog.

The Ffestiniog Railway Company is marking 'ACORP Community Rail Weekend' (May 16-18), with super-saver two pound one-way tickets for Concessionary Travel Pass holders in Gwynedd and Conwy, from May 12-17.

Sight For Sore Eyes

At last, it is now possible to once again enjoy the full glory of Cei Mawr! - Cei Mawr - located between Penrhyn and Tan-y-Bwlch - is the largest free-standing, dry-stone embankment in Europe.  In fact, as Ffestiniog Railway trains steam across the top they are 62' above the valley floor below!

Return of the Earl

The 'Earl of Merioneth' is about to emerge from the paint shop after a repaint! - As you can see from the photos it looks magnificent. New tool boxes are required to finish the job and these are in hand by other volunteers.

Porthmadog cross town link construction update
The work to complete the link between the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways is moving into its later stages, and it is now possible to give clearer, updated projections about how and when the individual parts of the work will be completed.

The Lyd Project - The 'final push'...
On December 31st, the partially completed 'Lyd' was taken from Boston Lodge Works to Glan y Pwll, where further work will take place in order to get the loco in steam.
