Duration: Approx. 3 hours
Up to 2 trains per day / 3 days per week according to demand.
Spooner’s café will be open for a selection of refreshments before joining the train.
As it leaves the station, the train steams along the main road and crosses a bridge over the Glaslyn river, flowing out into the historic harbour below. Be ready to wave – there are always people waiting to watch this spectacle!
The journey across the flatlands of the ‘Traeth Mawr’ (the great estuary) offers wide vistas of the mountains of Snowdonia before it enters a tunnel, reappearing high on a ledge above the river in the Aberglaslyn Pass on route to Beddgelert.
There is approximately an hour to explore this pretty riverside village with its ancient church, numerous shops, cafes and pubs and a splendid ice cream parlour.
A selection of pre-order picnic hampers can be purchased to enjoy on-board and help you to make the most of your day. (More details of available hampers can be found here).
Modern carriages with Perspex dividers between seating bays and large windows give panoramic views on both sides of the train. Most seating bays contain six seats around two tables.
