The Snowdonian – April 2nd – Latest News!

People are asking ‘is there still space?’  The answer is ‘Yes’.  But please do not delay.
This is the first time a double-double-Fairlie has ever visited Caernarfon.
The train will be part hauled by two double-Fairlies and there will be approximately 240 3rd and 22 1st class seats.

From Minffordd (on the down journey) for the rest of the day an open top bus will run for photographers to pace the train.

Departure from Porthmadog will be 08.45 (approx) with return by 19.00

There will be bacon butties on the outward journey, a buffet lunch at Beddgelert and scones on the return departure from Dinas.

There’s going to be a very nice cast aluminium, decorated headboard – for raffle!

There will be a photographic runpast (that you can see from the Rhyd Ddu ‘grassy knoll’ – Ffridd Isaf).
The price for The Snowdonian - the first public through train between Blaenau Ffestiniog and Caernarfon - is £130.00 third class.

There will only be 22 FIRST CLASS seats on the train, all in the observation car. The catering will be slightly upgraded. If you want to travel FIRST, please e-mail here with your bid for a seat. The 22 highest bidders at the end of February will get the seats. (If you do bid, we’ll automatically reserve you a third class seat at the £130 price in case you don’t make the top 22). We’ll publish the auction bids on the Phase 5 web site.  Please take note that if you want a First Class seat now, you’ll need to bid higher than £200 – as we already have more bids than spaces!

*Update: There are less than 100 third class seats left on this train.
