On Saturday, more than 300 people travelled on the first train, necessitating adding extra carriages to meet demand. As a result, the 11 car train was too long for the loop at Hafod y Llyn and the train had to be 'topped and tailed' with Single Fairlie Taliesin and diesel Vale of Ffestiniog. The afternoon train was reduced to nine carriages as 'only' 200 passengers turned up, Taliesin handling the load with ease.
On Sunday, the weather took a turn for the worse, but 235 passengers still grabbed the chance to ride from Porthmadog to the mouth of the Aberglaslyn Pass.
The final £1.50 trains run this Wednesday and Thursday, before a half-term week of full services between Caernarfon and Porthmadog start on Sunday 20th.
