May is the Month!

'Jerry M'
This exchange will afford a fantastic opportunity on the FR to see, for the first time, various sized Hunslets - from the smallest quarry type 'Britomart' - through to the largest, 'Blanche', side by side.

Enthusiasts will be able to draw interesting comparisons between the unique mid-sized Hunslet, 'Lilla', and 'Jerry M'.

A comprehensive program of activities has been drawn up (see bottom of page) that will include intensive use of 'Jerry M' on the FR - especially during the first bank holiday in May, to coincide with the Ffestiniog Railway society AGM weekend!

The weekend starts on the evening of Friday, 2nd May, when 'Jerry M' will shunt the stock at Harbour Station in readiness for the weekend. Visitors will be able to enjoy real ales in the station pub whilst soaking up the atmosphere of narrow gauge steam, as the sun goes down.

The loco is booked to work demonstration freight and passenger services on Saturday and is then booked for a full line run to Blaenau on the Sunday Morning.

The events-team is looking to launch as wide a variety of trains for 'Jerry M' to haul as possible, during the course of the weekend. The regular main line service is expected to feature all three active FR Double Fairlies.

It is hoped that 'Jerry M' will return in time for the Annual Hollycombe steam gala weekend on the 31st of May / 1st of June giving a once in a lifetime opportunity to see her in steam alongside 'Palmerston'!
