Race the Train – 22nd July 2009
The race is on… Steam power takes on leg power as the ever popular Race the Train event promises more high-speed action on Wednesday 22 July.

Now in its 12th year, the race starts at Dinas and finishes at Caernarfon (5k) and is always a big hit, with around 200 participants donning their running trainers to take-on the steam locomotive!

Runners and supporters usually meet at Caernarfon train station and are then taken to Dinas by train for the start.

You may want to, literally, race the train or take it a little easier knowing that there will always be people around you for support and people to cheer you on during the harder moments!

There is also a shorter race for children who will be given a lucky-bag at the end.

The event brings together the whole community and is ideal for the novice through to the professional, with almost a separate race for members of running clubs and the more serious competitor…

We can’t guarantee you won’t get blisters but we do guarantee you will have fun and it is an ideal Snowdon Race warm-up too!

Every participant will be awarded a commemorative slate plaque and certificate, and an awards ceremony will be held at Cofi Roc.

There is also £100 up for grabs to the man and woman who beat their category’s best run-time! - Men: 14 minutes 13 seconds / Women: 17 minutes 21 seconds

…Take up the challenge!

• £2 for spectators to travel on the train. Children under 3 free.
• More information will be released closer to the date. Keep checking back!
