Britannia Bridge crossing tests
This week saw an independent Road Safety Audit of the Britannia Bridge crossing carried out by Arup Consulting and attended by the North Wales Trunk Road Agency and Gwynedd Police.

The audit is standard practice when there is a change of a road's status, as there will be when Porthmadog High Street it is de-trunked following the opening of the Porthmadog Bypass.

The audit involved both daytime and night test runs across Britannia Bridge, with a number of the trains – top and tailed by Merddin Emrys and Vale of Ffestiniog – continued to Pont Croesor for driver route familiarisation training.

The tests highlighted a couple of minor modifications to improve the crossing - illumination of a sign and the installation of protective kerbing by the wig-wag heads to prevent them getting hit by large vehicles.

Several more test trains will be run across the Cross Town Rail Link before passenger services commence in January.
