Our unique fleet of locomotives includes 'K1' - the world's first Garratt - also built by Beyer, Peacock.
... So what better way to celebrate the distinguished history of this famous company, than to dedicate North Wales' Garratt-powered railway's September enthusiasts' event to this anniversary.
Come and join the fun at our 'Garratt Spectacular' over the weekend (5th-7th September) we intend to have at least FIFTY Garratts - model, miniature and full-scale - attending the weekend!
All exhibits will be at Dinas including - at various times during the day - 3 K1's in different gauges (all in steam) where you can take a ride with each of them.
Memorabilia, works plates, plans and a large display of photographic material will also be included. Additionally North Wales Model Engineers will be at Caernarfon Station with their 5" track so that you can enjoy even more steam haulage while you are waiting for your train!
Large pay car park next to Dinas Station.
Intensive timetable on 'main line' on Saturday and Sunday when we are hoping that seven trains will operate to Rhyd Ddu together with shuttles between Caernarfon and Waunfawr.
There will be a standard four train service on the Friday, many of the static exhibits will be open as will the 16mm Garratt working layout. Many of the operating exhibits will be arriving during the day together with our usual yard shunting to get everything in the right place.
The car park at Dinas will be free on Friday.
