Snowdonia Society Guided Walk on May 31st - "Blooming Wild"
A wildflower and wildlife walk through Coed y Bleiddiau, with experienced wildlife walk leader Kevin Hall; catching the train from Tan y Bwlch to the walk’s start at Tanygrisau.

Linda passes Coed y Bleiddiau between Tan y Bwlch and Dduallt
Meet at 10.40 in the morning at Ffestiniog Railway’s Tan y Bwlch station and travel by 10.50 train to Tanygrisiau (where the walk starts). You may also join the train at Porthmadog (10.10), Minffordd (10.20) or Penrhyn (10.25). It is also possible to join the walk at Tanygrisiau station at 11.10 and catch a train back from Tan y Bwlch at 16.30.
The walk will then meander back to Tan y Bwlch. We will walk via the Dduallt loop, the only railway loop in Britain, and Coed y Bleiddiau, one of the 74 National Nature Reserves and where allegedly the last wolf in Wales was slain. Along the way we will be looking out for wildlife and enjoying the blooming wildflowers in the company of Kevin Hall, an experienced wildlife walk leader for HF Holidays.

Walk length: about 6 miles; 4 hours approx (so back at Tan y Bwlch by about 3.30pm).

The terrain, especially through the woods, is quite up and down with a few rough steps.

Please bring lunch and a drink, a raincoat and wear appropriate clothing & sturdy footwear; binoculars will be useful. All children should be accompanied by an adult.

For the walk we invite a suggested donation of £2 for Snowdonia Society members and £5 for non-members.

Train - a one way ticket between Tan y Bwlch and Tanygrisiau costs £6.50 per adult, £5.90 concessions (over 65 or full time students) less a whopping 66% discount for holders of Y Cerdyn Railcard. Y Cerdyn costs £15, lasts for 5 years and is available only to locals.

The capacity for this event is 20 people so booking is essential; first come first served: email or phone 01286 685498.
