Savour the Darjeeling Himalaya Railway experience - in North Wales
The DHR is one of the world's great narrow gauge railways, running for 50 miles through some of the toughest terrain imaginable. Now a few lucky people have the chance to experience the nearest thing to the DHR without travelling to India.

In the woods on the Ffestiniog
Another of the world's great narrow gauge railways, the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland, runs for 40 miles across the dramatic mountains of Snowdonia and is proud to be offering the chance to ride behind a genuine DHR Sharp Stewart locomotive dating back to 1889 in authentic DHR carriages.

And although we can't guarantee it, we might even be able to offer monsoon conditions, but we can promise some of the toughest climbs on any railway in the UK as the Welsh Highland winds up through the woods above Beddgelert.

The sound of Adrian Shooter's 19B working hard up this stretch is something to behold and earned it the accolade of 'Best Sounding Loco' at the WHR's Superpower event this year.

The historic loco will haul two replica DHR carriages - built by F&WHR craftsmen at the company's Boston Lodge Works - the full length of the combined railways from Caernarfon - Blaenau Ffestiniog on Saturday October 8th and in the opposite direction on Sunday 9th.

Monsoon at Beddgelert
Just 50 tickets are available over the weekend for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity at £100 single or £175 for the two day return trip.

The Saturday train will pause for lunch the F&WHR's own restaurant at Porthmadog Harbour Station, while on Sunday, lunch will be available at Beddgelert's Royal Goat Hotel. Note that the cost of lunch is not included in the fare.

A return bus transfer will also be available on both days to transport passengers to and from Caernarfon, at a cost of £15.00

Tickets can be booked by phoning 01766 516024. Remember - if you miss this one, you'll need to travel to India…
