This is the second such event and several of the people who came to look last year have now become volunteers. New recruit, Chris Rose, describes his experience:
“The weekend was well organised from start to finish and I was made to feel very welcome. The opportunity to go behind the scenes at Boston Lodge and Minffordd was a great insight into the range of skills needed to maintain the Railway. The volunteers and full time staff I met were so enthusiastic about the railway that they inspired me to volunteer. Since then I have been Station Host at Porthmadog, helped at outside events including track laying at the Shrewsbury Flower Show, and taken part in the Victorian Weekend. All very enjoyable.”
You can meet Chris and other volunteers on either Saturday 22nd or Sunday 23rd April and go behind the scenes to get a peek at what makes the railway tick.
