As part of the railway’s Summer of Fun activities, held at various stations during the school holidays, children were invited to suggest a suitable name for a locomotive engine. Due to the very high standard of entries the judges, the Summer of Fun co-ordinators, Dale Spridgeon and Leann Thomas, decided to select three equal first place winners. The lucky children are Elsa Marks (aged 3) of Wrexham, Jessica Russell Hill, (aged 6), of Norfolk and Toby Spruce (aged 6) of Sale.
Elsa suggested the name “Reginald Webster.” The judges were interested to learn that the inspiration for the name came from her great grand-father, who was the station master at Wrexham General Station and one of the last station masters. Jessica’s winning name was “Bluesa,” which was considered unusual and original. Toby’s winning entry was the appropriate Welsh name “Llewellyn.”
They all win a family ticket (two adults, two children) to ride the railway and an exciting activity colouring book and a pack of pencils.
CONGRATULATIONS to the winners and thank you to everyone who entered.
