The full daily service on the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways resumes on March 24th after the Winter break. Major changes include all Welsh Highland trains running into Porthmadog for the first time.
On peak days, the new timetable features seven return trips from Porthmadog to Blaenau Ffestiniog a day on the Ffestiniog. On the Welsh Highland, there are three trains each day from both Caernarfon and Porthmadog.
There is a new early morning departure from Porthmadog for Rhyd Ddu - the 0810 then returns to Port at 1000. Another departs at 1645, reaching Rhyd Ddu at 1800 and returning at 1830, providing a much-improved service for passengers from Beddgelert and Meillionen Forest Campsite, as well as offering new half-line return options.
The 1000 and 1255 departures from Caernarfon also offer connections with Ffestiniog trains to Blaenau Ffestiniog, allowing passengers to travel the full 40 miles of the F&WHR system.
In the opposite direction, the 1340 ex-Blaenau Ffestiniog also allows a through connection reaching Caernarfon at 1800.
