Replica Baldwin 2-4-2 locomotive ‘Lyn’ to star at Welsh Highland Railway Super Power
We are pleased to be able to confirm that courtesy of the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway and the 762 Club, replica Baldwin 2-4-2 locomotive Lyn is to visit the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways in September.

Latest Hunslet 125 visitor announced… Beddgelert to Beddgelert!
The Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways are delighted to announce the return of a long-lost locomotive as its latest visitor to the Hunslet 125 event over 22nd to 24th June. This legendary Hunslet 0-6-4ST NWNGR locomotive will travel to the beautiful Beddgelert station for the first time!

Red lights mean stop… They really mean stop!
Britannia Bridge in Porthmadog is at the heart of the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways’ network. Ever since the 26-mile-long Welsh Highland Railway re-opened to the town October 2010, the bridge has seen regular use by trains.

Wales Air Ambulance benefit from Farewell Train
On the evening of Sunday 8th April, staff and volunteers of the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways took Double-Fairlie ‘Earl of Merioneth’ out for one last run before it was put into storage.

Heritage Skills Training Programme
The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways have been successful in securing a significant Heritage Lottery Fund grant of £454,500 to support an ambitious training programme to introduce heritage skills to a more diverse audience.

Farewell to The Earl – April 8th 2018 – Win a footplate ride!
Double Fairlie ‘Earl of Merioneth’ is to be withdrawn from service next month to make way for a replacement locomotive, and we are offering the opportunity for two lucky people to enjoy a footplate ride during the final weekend of service.

Celebrating our Heritage at London King’s Cross
182 years ago, in a remote corner of North Wales, the Ffestiniog Railway opened for business. The railway was initially used to carry slate from the quarries in Blaenau Ffestiniog to the sea at Porthmadog, where it would be loaded on to ships which sailed all over the world.
