Engineering Course 'first' for Ffestiniog Railway…
Four students from Year 10, Ysgol Eifionydd, Porthmadog, have just completed the first year of a two-year course in engineering jointly run by the school and the Ffestiniog Railway's Boston Lodge Engineering Works.

'Sussex Folk Orchestra' at Tan y Bwlch

On Sunday June 29th The Sussex Folk Orchestra will play at Tan-y-Bwlch station from 12pm. The SFO are a group of musicians based around Worthing in West Sussex who play traditional and contemporary folk music from around the world.

Cambrian Trailways Reach The Top!
The recently launched Cambrian Trailways have won the Welsh Transport Awards Walking and Cycling category for 2008. The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Awards are an annual event that recognise and celebrate examples of best practice in Welsh transport.

Bank Holiday Weekend: 3rd -5th May 2008
This coming May Bank Holiday Weekend will bring the opportunity to see as many as possible of the Ffestiniog Railway's steam locomotives in action - with the added attraction of a trio of Hunslet locos: visiting engine 'Jerry M', privately-owned 'Britomart' and, hopefully, the eagerly anticipated return to steam of 'Lilla'.

HSB Staff Visit: a Postscript
All the HSB visitors are now safely back in Germany and back into their normal work routines. They all had a great time and very much appreciated the chance they had to work alongside us again and meet our customers on the trains.

HSB Exchange Visit 2008
The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways have been formally twinned with the former East German Harzer Schmalspurbahnen (HSB) since 2006 and staff exchange visits have taken place on a regular basis since 2003.

The Ffestiniog Railway Company is marking 'ACORP Community Rail Weekend' (May 16-18), with super-saver two pound one-way tickets for Concessionary Travel Pass holders in Gwynedd and Conwy, from May 12-17.

Sight For Sore Eyes

At last, it is now possible to once again enjoy the full glory of Cei Mawr! - Cei Mawr - located between Penrhyn and Tan-y-Bwlch - is the largest free-standing, dry-stone embankment in Europe.  In fact, as Ffestiniog Railway trains steam across the top they are 62' above the valley floor below!
