Mallet in action at F&WHR Spring Thing
Statfold Barn's Mallet Number 9 will be in action on the Welsh Highland Railway during the F&WHR's Spring event, running shuttles between Porthmadog and Rhyd Ddu.

New Observation Car enters service
Our new 3rd class observation car number 123 made its debut on today's Eryri Venturer charter. It's the first time an observation car has faced towards Blaenau Ffestiniog.

F&WHR / WHHR joint statement
Martyn Owen, Chairman of the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway and John Prideaux, Chairman of the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways, met on 19th February. The meeting was considered by both to be constructive and positive.

The Snowdonian – April 2nd – Latest News!
On April 2nd 2011 as a celebration of the completion of the WHR, we are running a VERY special train from Porthmadog to Blaenau Ffestiniog, and then to Caernarfon and back to Porthmadog.

Tracklaying at Cae Ednyfed
The same day that Cae Ednyfed Bridge was handed back to the railway, a large tracklaying gang was hard at work relaying the track across the bridge.

Cae Ednyfed Bridge - Update
We have a new bridge over the Porthmadog bypass at Minffordd, Cae Ednyfed. Final ballast finishing and the laying of the cable troughs and walkway has just been completed and the railway will be given formal access at 0800 tomorrow (Tuesday) morning.

Locals flock to ride the Welsh Highland
The special offer for local residents to experience the final section of the Welsh Highland saw crowds at Porthmadog Harbour Station as people queued to take advantage of the special £1.50 fares on offer.

Bridging the gap
Contractors spent Monday February 7th carefully positioning the new bridge at Minffordd which will carry the Ffestiniog Railway main line over the new Porthmadog Bypass.
