Automobile Club of North Wales visit - May 8th 2011
The Welsh Highland Railway is delighted to be hosting a visit of a wide variety of cars from the North Wales Automobile Club. There will be cars at Pont Croesor station with the main display at Dinas station, near Caernarfon.

After weeks of planning, we're now able to publish a Handy Guide to the forthcoming Spring Thing - The event takes place over the Easter / Spring Bank Holiday weekends, and offers something for everyone.

Representatives from Llechwedd Slate Quarry will be giving slate splitting demonstrations at Blaenau Station over Easter Weekend, and there'll be footplate rides too...

Spring Thing - Timetables now published!
We have now published a complete set of timetables for the period April 22nd to May 2nd. These timetables give full details of the enhanced train services available during the ten day 'Spring Thing' event.

Ras y Moelwyn 2011 - Saturday 16th April...
Ras y Moelwyn, which forms part of the Welsh Athletics Mountain Running Championships, takes place this Saturday, starting and finishing in Blaenau Ffestiniog.

MEP in fact-finding visit to Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways
Jill Evans, Plaid Cymru MEP for Wales, visited the Welsh Highland Railway on April 5, 2011. Jill travelled from Porthmadog to Rhyd Ddu and discussed the vital role the railway plays in supporting the local economy with General Manager Paul Lewin.

Travel in Style through Switzerland
If you buy a standard 4-day Swiss Pass from Ffestiniog Travel no later than 30th April you will get an automatic upgrade to first class. The Swiss Pass entitles you to unlimited travel on consecutive days on railways, boats, and most alpine postbuses covering a network of over 16000 kilometres.

Signal Engineers visit the WHR...
Eighty members of the Institute of Railway Signal Engineers met in Caernarfon before travelling over the WHR to Porthmadog where they were given a guided tour of the Cae Pawb Network Rail flat crossing and witnessed a demonstration of the catch points and signals by operating company staff.

Deputy First Minister praises Porthmadog bypass scheme during visit
Deputy First Minister Ieuan Wyn Jones hailed the £35m Porthmadog bypass project during a visit to the site today (Thursday March 31) and was pictured as the Welsh Highland Railway's 1045 Porthmadog - Caernarfon service passed under a new bridge being constructed to carry the road.
