Mini slate shunts Minffordd yard - This gives the opportunity to drive Quarry Hunslet locomotive, Lilla, around our heritage civil engineering yard at Minffordd. Can you get the slate wagons in the right order and on the right siding? This is the chance for two people to test their skills of driving and operating the points to get Lilla and her wagons around the yard. Each slate shunt lasts approximately 90 minutes and must be prebooked. Training will be given.

Minffordd Yard has always been at the heart of railway operations, even way back in the early days with slate being transferred to the standard gauge line and stored in the Maenoffaren Shed. Today, it is the hub of our civil engineering but is also an important heritage site. There have been several changes in recent months and there are plans for a new building to house some of our more unusual vehicles. Guided tours of Minffordd yard to point out some history, explain developments and the Waggon Tracks building project will take place throughout the day. These are bookable as space is limited.

Shuttles to Pont Croesor will be hauled by 'Fiji'. These will give glimpses of another of our historic locomotives, 'K1', which is visiting the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway for their spring gala.
